Classes we offer

We offer a wide range of heated and unheated classes designed to be accessible to all.

26&2

Suitable for all
90/75/60 Minutes

The original hot yoga, previously known as Bikram Yoga, this is a class comprising of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. Developed in the 1970s with Western lifestyles and bodies in mind, it is heavily inspired by the Ghosh lineage of yoga as taught by Bishnu Ghosh. This series systematically works through the whole body inside and out while the heat provides a safer working environment to release tension in the body. This class is especially great for people working with injuries and ailments.

Flow

Suitable for all
75/60 Minutes

Vinyasa based class – movement linked with breath, working from one posture smoothly in to the next. The heat is off (though never a cold room) as you provide your own heat with the continuous movement.

Ashtanga

Strong and fast-paced, we recommend taking a few Flow classes first
75/90 Minutes

A physically demanding practice developed by K. Pattabhi Jois in the early 20th century, combining dynamic movements and a variety of static postures designed to build strength, stamina and concentration. We will focus on the Primary Series, a set sequence of movements, giving you the opportunity to return, develop and track your progress.

Beginners

Suitable for all
75 Minutes

An introduction to yoga – a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with the setting of a class, learn breathing techniques to support your practice, and build a foundation and understanding of postures.

Hot Flow

Suitable for all
60/75 Minutes

A vinyasa based class – movement linked with breath, working from one posture smoothly in to the next. The heat is on so be prepared to get your sweat on.

Slow

Suitable for all
75/60 Minutes

Unheated Yin/Restorative style yoga. The postures will be held for a much longer duration than the other classes we offer. This allows for us to work not only our muscles but also deep into our fascia and connective tissue. The long holds help us to find a little more stillness in our minds.

Classic

FIRST TIME AT LANO YOGA?

It can feel scary starting something new, but rest assured that we have all had the very same first class nerves!  Here is some useful information to get you started.

  • Firstly, it’s important to note you do not need to be flexible to practice yoga, here or anywhere! You might find it is a nice benefit, but not a prerequisite. So come just as you are!
  • Please don’t stress, our friendly team are here to make sure you feel comfortable. Show up and we’ll take care of the rest.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before the class start time. This will give you a chance to familiarise yourself with the space and meet your teacher beforehand.
  • We suggest you have your last meal at least 2 hours before the class starts, to avoid indigestion or discomfort.
  • If you are joining a hot class, make sure you wear breathable clothes as it gets hot and humid! Most students tend to wear shorts and t-shirt/vest.
  • You will need a yoga mat and good sized towel to cover over, especially if practicing a hot class. We hire them out if you have either.
  • Changing rooms and showers are at the studio for ladies and gents. We also have accessible toilets at both studio’s.
  • LANO Southsea as ground level, step free access to the studio and changing facilities. LANO Chichester is on the 2nd floor with lift access.
  • No under-16s permitted to any yoga class unless it is a designated children’s class. Under 18s to be accompanied by an adult on their first visit, they are allowed to practice unaccompanied after with written permission from their parent or guardian. Thank you.  ‘
